Getting ready for work
The pride of the UTC’s is how they are able to get their students ready for the world of work and North East Futures is no exception. We give our students access to many opportunities including and not limited to:
Project Based Learning
During an academic year students will take part in industry led projects. These projects based on real life problems that our partners are facing within their industry right now. Our students learn about Project Management and build upon their soft skills.
We aim for all of our students to have a Mentor from an industry that they are interested in. Throughout the students time at the UTC, Mentors support with CV writing, applying for work experience and provide guidance for interviews. They also encourage and support with future aspirations of applying for University, an Apprenticeship or full time work. With 6 sessions spread over the course of each academic year students make massive leaps towards their future goal!
As you may expect at a UTC, work experience is very important to us and our students. Students look for their placements with companies they are interested in with our Business team helping them along the way.
We believe it’s important for students to get a taste of different careers within the Digital and Health Science industries. As a part of this we have various professionals from across our partners and supporters talking about their careers and how they got there.
Business in the classroom
To help our students appreciate the skills learnt in lessons our partners have regular presence within our classrooms explaining how skills transfer into the working world.
