Curriculum – North East Futures UTC

Key Stage 4

Your child can attend Year 10 at North East Futures and study a range of GCSEs and Technical Qualifications. All students will take Core GCSEs, Specialist GCSEs and non-examined activities. Students will then pick one technical award and one other optional GCSE. For specific subject information, see below.

Key Stage 5

Students will have 3 options about what type of study they’d like to undertake, whether that be more academic biased learning by 3 or 4 of our A-level courses, the more practical route by taking one of our BTEC options or a mixture of both. Our smaller selection of courses provides a focused entry into the health science industry and the computer industry.

Route 1: A Levels

Choose 3 or 4 A Levels from the following:
Mathematics Further Mathematics Physics Chemistry Biology Computer Science

Route 2: BTEC

Choose either of the following:
Extended Diploma Computing Extended Diploma Biomedical Science

You may also take Level 3 Maths as well:
Level 3 Mathematical Studies

Route 3: Blended

Choose 2 A Levels from the list above and either of the following:
Extended Certificate Applied Science Extended Certificate Computing

Please note the following combinations aren’t possible due to an overlap in content:

Extended Certificate Applied Science with Biology or Chemistry A-levels
Extended Certificate Computing with Computer Science A-level

Enrichment
